Weather events and mutation chances

Mutations only trigger while you are actively playing during a weather event. Each event gives crops a chance to mutate to its associated mutation type. See the full Events guide for strategies.

🌧️ Common events (8–4%)

Rain → Wet (8%)
Blizzard → Frozen (4%)

These events occur most frequently. Let them mutate your mid-tier crops.

⚡ Mid-tier events (3.5–2%)

Harvest Season → Autumn (3.5%)
Black Hole → Void (3%)
Nuclear → Radioactive (2%)

Stay online when these fire for a chance at 2–3× mutations.

🌌 Rare events (2.5–0.5%)

UFO → Alien (2.5%)
Mega Farm → Farm (1.5%)
Galaxy → Rainbow (1%)
Bee Swarm → Honeycomb (0.5%)

Make sure your best crops are planted and watered before these events.

Which crops deserve mutation sprays?

Mutation math rewards strong base crops. A Honeycomb on a weak Common crop gives far less than a Honeycomb on a Cherry Blossom. Follow this priority:

  1. Early game: Accept Wet or Frozen on anything that helps unlock core upgrades. Never waste premium sprays.
  2. Mid game: Use Autumn or Void sprays only on Epic or Legendary crops you plan to keep for several cycles.
  3. Late game: Reserve Radioactive, Alien, Farm, Rainbow, and Honeycomb sprays strictly for Exotic, Secret, and Prismatic targets.
  4. Before Time Skip: Make sure your strongest mutated crops are active, watered, and harvestable.
  5. Use Acid Spray on valuable crops that caught a weak mutation before using a premium spray.

Mutation value scales with: crop quality × crop level × saw yield × rebirth multipliers.

Honeycomb mutation — the 6.5× end-game target

Honeycomb is the highest reported mutation multiplier in Build A Ring Farm at 6.5×, triggered during the Bee Swarm (Queen Bee) weather event at approximately 0.5% chance per eligible crop per harvest cycle.

How to maximize Honeycomb chances

  1. Keep your best Prismatic crop (Cherry Blossom or Giant Pinecone) always planted and watered.
  2. Stay active during Bee Swarm events — offline crops cannot mutate.
  3. Do not waste Acid Spray before a Bee Swarm event — if your crop has no mutation, the 0.5% chance applies cleanly.
  4. Use the Seed & Mutation Forecaster to calculate the income jump from a Honeycomb vs current mutation.
  5. Have strong Saw Yield and Rebirth multipliers before farming Honeycomb — the 6.5× scales with everything.

Mutation FAQ

What is the best mutation in Build A Ring Farm?

Honeycomb (6.5×) is the highest reported multiplier, triggered during the Bee Swarm / Queen Bee event. Rainbow (5×) is a more realistic end-game target for most players since the Galaxy event fires more often. Both belong only on your best Exotic, Secret, or Prismatic crops.

How many mutations are there?

There are 9 reported mutations: Wet, Frozen, Autumn, Void, Radioactive, Alien, Farm, Rainbow, and Honeycomb. Each is tied to a specific weather event.

Can mutations stack?

Public guides currently disagree on stacking. This wiki uses one active visible mutation as the safe planning assumption. Check the in-game crop panel before spending expensive sprays.

Do crops mutate while offline?

No. Current reporting confirms that mutation events require active gameplay. Offline earnings continue, but mutation chances do not trigger while you are away.

When should I use Acid Spray?

Use Acid Spray when a valuable leveled crop has a weak mutation (like Wet) and you want to reroll it for a higher-tier chance rather than uprooting the entire crop.

Is the Autumn mutation from the THANKYOU code spray rare?

The THANKYOU code gives one Autumn Spray (2× multiplier). That is a meaningful early-to-mid gift — save it for a Legendary or better crop rather than using it on a Common or Rare crop you may replace.
